CRAFT SPIRITS FROM SPIRITED CRAFTSMEN

OUR STORY

It began in 2015 with three life long friends, some job layoffs, a 100 year-old building, and the dream of making damn good whiskey with locally grown grains. Rob, Jake, and Pat have been friends since junior high school. They spent their adult years gaining different skills in different industries; Rob was a chef, moonshiner, and biodiesel expert. Jake was a project manager and got his masters in Sustainable Design. Pat worked in insurance and was a bartender extraordinaire. They came together over their love of fine spirits and 10,000 Drops was born (if only in concept). They spent the next three years renovating the four-story Peterson Art Furniture building by soft blasting walls, removing sheetrock, pulling nails (so many nails), and re-using many building elements to make the restoration as sustainable as possible. Re-purposing old flooring to make the ceiling, old sprinkler pipe to make the railings, old windows to make a two-story wall, and floor joists to build the bar, counter tops, merchandise area and more.

OUR VISION

10,000 Drops was created with the goal of making the finest quality craft spirits, period. In order to achieve this singular goal, we had to learn all we could about the industry, how great spirits are made, and what makes a truely high quality spirit. To accomplish this we toured many craft distilleries across the U.S. to learn what we could. In order to take our skills from the garage to a flourishing business, we needed the guidance of experts. Thankfully we found Moonshine University in Kentucky and, over the course of many visits, were able to hone our skills, develop amazing spirits, and make great contacts with people from all aspects within the craft spirits industry. After three long years of learning, building, and designing we finally fired up our still in the spring of 2018 - now forever dedicated to refining our craft, improving our processes and never compromising on quality or flavor.

OUR PROCESS

In order to make great whiskey you need great grain so, thankfully, we are proud to partner with the amazing folks at Crosswinds Farm - an organic farm that uses regenerative agricultural processes to make amazing corn and wheat while also improving the quality of their soil. Once we receive this amazing grain, we mill, mash, ferment, distill and age our products using time-tested and sustainable methods at our facility in Faribault. All byproducts from fermentation and distillation, including spent grain and rum wash, are then sent back to Crosswinds for use on their farm as organic fertilizer and foliar spray.

Use only the best ingredients - Never cut corners - Guided by flavor
